CHAIRMAN MILLER called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 11:08 a.m., and brought SB 64 (SALE OF ALASKA RAILROAD) before the committee as the first order of business. SENATOR PEARCE stated she would be offering three amendments to the legislation when it reaches the Senate floor. One of the amendments will give the legislature the ability to look at whether or not an RFP has been deliberately designed so as not to sell the railroad. The second amendment to subsection (b) on page 1 relates to accepting assignment of all contracts including collective bargaining agreements and retirement obligations. The third amendment relates to rather than accepting assignment of all contracts it provides an exemption for employment contracts, because of some senior management who are on contracts. SENATOR PEARCE moved and asked unanimous consent SB 64 be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
